Comparison
Best coffee tasting and cupping apps, compared honestly
We make Coffee Tasting, so read this knowing that. To keep it fair, every statement about another app below comes from that app’s own store listing, quoted and linked, as checked on . We don’t publish ratings or download counts, and no app paid to be here.
Short answer
The right app depends on what you do. For scoring on the official SCA Coffee Value Assessment form, look at Catador CVA, or the Pro tier of Cupping: Coffee Rating Journal; both listings name SCA forms. For logging brew recipes, Beanconqueror, Coffee Book, BeanBook and iBrewCoffee focus on that. For naming flavors field by field on a cupping sheet, with a built-in vocabulary and blind group tastings, that is what Coffee Tasting is built for.

Coffee Tasting (ours)
J&H Technology · Google Play
What it does well
- Every field of the cupping sheet, with drill-down picking from more than 250 flavor and character terms.
- Words first, optional scores; your own words are remembered.
- Private by default: no account for solo tasting, data on the device, no ads or tracking.
- Optional accounts (Sign in with Apple or an email code) with backup and sync across phones.
- Blind group tastings for up to 20 people on their own phones, with a Characteristic Wall and an answer-key reveal.
Where it falls short
- No official SCA cupping form or Coffee Value Assessment scoring. Its optional score is personal.
- No PDF or CSV export.
- No brew recipe logging, bean inventory, roast tracking or Bluetooth scale support.
- Not on the App Store yet.
- The free plan keeps three tastings, and hosting a group tasting needs Premium.

How we chose and checked
- We searched the App Store and Google Play for coffee tasting, cupping and coffee journal apps.
- We included apps whose listings we could open and that were updated within the last two years.
- Every claim about another app is paraphrased from, and quoted out of, its own listing. We have not tested other apps hands-on for this page, so we make no judgments about their quality.
- Prices change and vary by country; check each listing for current prices.
- If you make one of these apps and something here is wrong or out of date, email jarrod@jandhtechnology.com and we will correct it.
